About
The machine running this website is a shell. Anything it holds can be regenerated. So can this page.
I'm Lucas Liona. I study Computer Science and Applied Mathematics at Rutgers University–Camden, in the Honors College, graduating January 2027. I was a U.S. Department of State Gilman Scholar, which is how I ended up spending a summer in Prague building a generative-AI system I can't say much about.
I am the type of person that likes to plan and optimize things in and out. I like declarative languages, Infrastructure as Code, and shipping fast. This means I protect the ability to destroy and rebuild everything in my lab. My homelab is currently one Proxmox node run and deployed from my laptop. It serves local models, trains a reinforcement-learning agent to play Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, and hosts the tooling behind everything else I do, including a nightly agent that works while I sleep.
Before that I was president of the ACM chapter, where I directed HackRUC, the campus's largest hackathon, and led an $8,000 grant-funded project connecting EPA violation records to air-quality sensors in Camden. I've tutored over 200 hours in math, physics, and CS, and I still like explaining things.
Off the keyboard I like to walk my dog, explore, learn things, and work out. On the keyboard I am messing with Arch Linux, I have been spamming Anki, curating my riced Windows setup, and an Obsidian vault I care about more than is reasonable. If you want to talk about self-hosted apps, ML/RL, or a role in NY, PA, or NJ, email works.
